Hello and Happy Valentines Day everyone! I hope everyone’s day has been fulled with lots of love and of course sugary sweets. I know a lot of people don’t really like Valentines Day but the hopeless romantic in me can’t seem to be a hater for it. What can I say I love love.
My Valentine (Alan) loves bow ties. But I didn’t want to buy him any old bow tie from the store. It is Valentines day so I thought long and hard about how I could personalize this item to give him something he loves that will also be a thoughtful and meaningful gift. So I decided to write a love letter on it! But then I remembered I am not so great with words myself so I actually picked out some really meaningful touching lyrics. I am slightly obsessed with Lana Del Rey right now so I decided to go with some lyrics from her song Lucky Ones. (Every now and then, the stars align. Boy and girl meet by the great design. Could it be that you and me are the lucky ones? Everybody told me love was blind. Then I saw your face and you blew my mind. Finally, you and me are the lucky ones this time.) These lyrics just really say it all for me I truely do feel lucky to of meet someone so great. Ok, enough with the mushy stuff. Lets get down to how we make this thing.
- Fabric pen
- Canvas Bow Tie or other bow tie with fabric you would be able to write on.
This is a super easy D.I.Y project after you have picked out what you want to write on the bow tie of course. If your bow tie is already tied like the one pictured above you will want to start by untying the bow tie.
Place it on a flat hard surface so you can write your message on the bow tie. I did a practice run on a piece of paper to make sure my cursive was pretty and to make sure the spacing and placement of the words would all be ok. Once you are happy with your practice run on the paper you can grab the fabric pen and start writing your message on the bow tie. I pressed really lightly with the pen because I didn’t want it to bleed through to the other side.
Now it’s time to learn how to tie a bow tie. HAHA. Just kidding, kind of. I watched this You Tube video to learn http://www.youtube.com/ It was actually pretty easy follow. And now I know how to tie a bow tie! How cool is that. Here is the end result. Let me know what you think in the comments.
I also want to say I am sorry it has been so long since my last blog post I actually got a second job helping out a wedding planner which if you read my 1st post was one of my goals for this year! I am super happy to be moving in the forward direction of my goals but it has taken up a lot of my free time so I hope to find a better balance between both my jobs and my blog here soon 🙂
